SUSPERIA: 'Back From A Mad, But Worthwhile Couple Of Days Of Metal Festival Mayhem'

August 18, 2008

Norwegian melodic thrashers SUSPERIA have issued the following update:

"We're back from a mad, but worthwhile couple of days of metal festival mayhem in Spain and Norway. It was hectic schedule but we got through it in the end. We had a fantastic time — even though we hardly had any time to sleep and also had some of our gear going missing at the airlines on the way back.

"Our show in Spain was a late one. We came off stage in Spain at 3:00 a.m.!! Then it was back to the hotel for a quick shower and a two-hour drive to the airport for our flight back to Norway. After a delay in Oslo trying to find our missing gear, we finally got to the Metal Rock Festival at 9:00 p.m. We got our set up sorted and hit the stage after midnight to deliver some more SUSPERIA metal.

"A huge thanks to everyone who came out to support us at the Revoltallo Festival in Spain and the Metal Rock Festival in Norway. You crazy Spanish metalheads made us feel so welcome — thanks to the fans and promoters for a great time; next time we won't leave it so long to come back.

"The Metal Rock Festival was just as crazy with our fellow country metallers going nuts and keeping us going as soon as we hit the stage. The atmosphere was electric and all thoughts of sleep were forgotten. The festival crew deserve a lot of credit for helping out with gear and making the show work — we appreciate it. We enjoyed it all and it looked like you did — now time to catch up on some sleep."

SUSPERIA is currently in pre-production for the band's next album. "We have about ten songs on the go at various stages of completion and everything is going well," the group stated. "Our creative juices are flowing!! At this moment we're in hard, fast and melodic mode. Athera [vocals] is in free flow with the lyrics. It's still early days, so we can't give you a full idea of what to expect yet, who knows what's coming!!"

SUSPERIA released its fourth studio album, "Cut from Stone", last year through the Tabu label in Europe and Candlelight Records in the USA. It entered the Norwegian chart at position No. 18 and was the No. 1 most added album on the influential CMJ Loud Rock and FMQB radio charts in the U.S.

"Cut from Stone" was recorded at Strand Studio, Oslo, Norway during 2006. The mix was completed by Daniel Bergstrand (IN FLAMES, MESHUGGAH, SOILWORK) at Dug-Out Studios in Uppsala, Sweden, while the production was handled by SUSPERIA and Marius Strand.
